The theme for this year's children's parade is 'The Elements' and MIddle Street will be 'Air' symbolised by the Monkey King riding on a cloud, as in the Chinese tale of 'A Journey to the West''. If you want to know more about the story behind this character, you can read a synopsis here. To get an idea of what Monkey looks like, take a look at these video clips-  the first 2 are from the Monkey TV series (the intro and Monkey battling with Pigsy on clouds) the third is from the BBC cartoon sequence for the Beijing Olympics.

If you can't see the video-please upgrade your Flash player

Suggestions for clothing are as follows: white and silvery clothes for clouds and red shirts and trousers for monkeys. Parade props workshops take place on the first and second Mondays after the holidays - in the hall 3.15 till 5.00.
The parade takes place on Saturday 2nd May. Middle Street will start from Gloucester Road at around 9.45 (Flag 25).
