FESTIVAL CHILDREN'S
PARADE - MONKEY
The theme for this
year's children's parade is 'The Elements' and MIddle Street will be 'Air'
symbolised by the Monkey King riding on a cloud, as in the Chinese tale of 'A
Journey to the West''. If you want to know more about the story behind this

here. To get an idea of what Monkey looks like,
take a look at these video clips- the first 2 are from the Monkey TV
series (the intro and Monkey battling with Pigsy on clouds) the third is from
the BBC cartoon sequence for the Beijing Olympics.

Suggestions for clothing
are as follows: white and silvery clothes for clouds and red shirts and trousers
for monkeys. Parade props workshops take place on the first and second Mondays
after the holidays - in the hall 3.15 till 5.00.
The parade takes place on Saturday 2nd May. Middle Street will start from
Gloucester Road at around 9.45 (Flag 25).
